Leading Line
A line
leading the viewer visually to other objects in the distance creating more
depth. In this photo a small group of high school students are posing for a
picture behind a rail on the bleachers that leads throughout the photograph.
You can see that the railing comes from one end and follows all the way to the
other.
Horizontal
Horizontal
is when the photograph is wider than it is tall. This photo is taken at the
beach and as you can see at the horizon line there are people settled in and
enjoying the sun. The separation between the ground and the sky is clear
because of the horizon line in this picture.
Informal Balance
Informal
Balance is when multiple items catch your eye in the photograph, basically it
would be asymmetrical. In this photo you can see a lot of objects of different
colors and there are different things going on.
Formal Balance
Formal balance is when the
picture is no completely symmetrical but very similar on both sides of the
picture. As you can see there is a pair of shoes above a staircase and if you
fold it in half the sides would be somewhat similar to each other.
High Key
High
Key is when there is a lot of intense lighting. This picture was clearly taken
outside during the day. The lighting is going towards the woman standing which
creates a brighter look and not so much shadow
